Education: BA/BS degree or associate's degree with an additional 2 years of experience
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
Certifications: Must be DoD 8570.01-M / 8140 compliant with active CompTIA Network+ CE, CCNA, or equivalent certification
Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the Network Administrator – Intermediate is responsible for the acquisition, installation, configuration, maintenance, and operation of local area network (LAN) systems. This role supports both the performance and security of network infrastructure and ensures that all network operations align with DoD standards and organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain all network hardware and software.
Monitor and manage network performance to ensure high levels of data availability.
Enforce security procedures and ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies.
Evaluate, develop, and maintain telecommunications systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve network hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
Develop and implement network policies, procedures, and standards.
Provide end-user training and support for network access and functionality.
Report to a PC Support Manager or Senior Network Administrator as required.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
Demonstrated experience with Layer 2/3 switches, Wireless Access Points, wireless devices, Firewalls, Routers, and Encryption devices.
Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.
Experience with IPSEC, IPv4/IPv6 network configurations.
Knowledge of IEEE 802.1x (port-based network access control), 802.11 (wireless LANs), MAC bridging, and network traffic management standards.
Familiarity with encryption and encoding standards used in secure communications.
