Education: Bachelor’s degree OR Associate’s degree with an additional 2 years of experience
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in systems administration across Windows platforms
Certifications: CompTIA Security+ CE or CompTIA Server+ CE, MCSA, MCP, MCSE, Must meet DoD 8750 and 8140 compliance requirements
Position Overview:
The Intermediate Windows Systems Administrator specializes in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems across Windows environments. This position supports the ARLEN and CARLEN networks, ensuring the integrity, performance, and security of server and workstation platforms. The administrator also plays a key role in user support, policy implementation, system monitoring, and compliance management in a secure IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain operating system workstations and servers, including web servers.
- Perform system software installations and upgrades, adhering to IT policies and schedules.
- Monitor and tune systems for optimal performance.
- Implement and manage backup and recovery processes for data/media recoverability.
- Conduct hardware/software audits for compliance with standards and policies.
- Maintain accurate configuration databases and supporting documentation.
- Support system patching, media management, and offsite storage solutions.
- Manage Active Directory and policy enforcement across platforms.
- Automate system tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell.
- Deploy updates and monitor system health in collaboration with IT teams.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and STIG implementations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues on Windows Server, macOS, and Linux systems.
